About The Position

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will develop and implement manufacturing process technologies, methods, and techniques to assist and promote the building of reliable, high-quality electromechanical assemblies at the lowest possible cost. This role involves developing and maintaining product assembly procedures, providing consultation to new product development teams on manufacturing capabilities and design for manufacturability, and assisting in cost estimates. The engineer will also identify, specify, validate, document, implement, and train on new equipment and processes, design production equipment and fixtures, and provide technical training to manufacturing associates. Responsibilities include maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, investigating and diagnosing product manufacturing issues, responding to customer requests, and coordinating product design changes. The role also requires collecting, recording, and presenting data on production projects and ensuring timely project completion.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (or equivalent combination of experience and education) in Electrical (EE or EET), Mechanical (ME or MET), or Industrial (IE, IET).
  • 2-4 years of related of work experience.
  • Experience with 2D & 3D CAD design/modeling of assemblies, schematics, parts, and draft creation.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing concepts.
  • Experience designing, assembling, and debugging automated or semi-automated electromechanical equipment.
  • Basic understanding of computer and machine programming and I/O logic.
  • Experience with validation efforts.
  • Strong MS Office abilities: proficiency necessary in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with MS Project.
  • Must be a self-starter and a strong problem solver.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organization and decision-making skills.
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electromechanical and/or medical device assembly and test highly desirable.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing and/or six sigma desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing process technologies, methods, and techniques to assist and promote the building of reliable, high-quality electromechanical assemblies at the lowest possible cost.
  • Develop and maintain product assembly procedures for electromechanical assemblies and cable assemblies.
  • Provide active consultation to new product development teams regarding manufacturing capabilities, techniques, and issues related to design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
  • Assist in the preparation of new product cost estimates, including applicable NRE.
  • Identify, specify, validate, document, implement, and train on new equipment and processes.
  • Design production equipment and fixtures to aid in the assembly of products while improving operator safety/comfort, reducing labor, and improving quality.
  • Provide technical training in electromechanical & cable manufacturing techniques, methods, and processes to manufacturing associates.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, changeovers, and costs.
  • Investigate and diagnose product manufacturing issues and respond to internal and external customer requests for changes and improvements.
  • Coordinate the implementation of product design changes.
  • Collect, record, and present data applicable to the status of production projects assigned to you.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time.
