Manufacturing Process Definition and Improvement Analyst II
About The Position
This position supports Detroit's vision of becoming the most lean and effective operation in the network. The role focuses on driving performance through waste elimination, process optimization, continuous improvement, and digital transformation. Responsibilities include leading Lean initiatives, coaching employees on TOS and Lean methodologies, supporting strategic plant objectives, and delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, safety, and productivity. The position also leverages AI, Power BI, and Daimler digital tools to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. Candidates will complete a structured Lean certification program and ultimately serve as change agents by facilitating workshops, leading improvement projects, and developing workforce capabilities across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college in Science-related field, Business, Manufacturing, Supplier Management, Project Management, etc
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Must have Lean background or desire to develop competency through Qualification programs
- Strong AI / Co-pilot application, Power-Bi Dashboard building, and Daimler Digi-tool knowledge, OR the desire to gain strong competencies in these areas once hired
- Advanced MS suite skills: Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Teams Tools, Planner, Project, etc
- Advanced skills in creating timelines, task tracking, creating charts, analyzing data
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, comfortable with public speaking
- Must be highly collaborative and work extremely well with others
- Must possess positive, can-do attitude
- Strong passion for learning
- Flexibility/able to adapt to a dynamic work environment
- Self-Starter, able to work independently, responsibly and without direct supervision
- Customer oriented mindset

- Experience developing working allocations, appraising utilization and driving optimizations

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop Detroit Lean Academy programs in Detroit once qualification is achieved
- Coach and Train Lean methodologies / WCM / TOS principles
- Collaborate with hourly & salary colleagues and Plant customers
- Contribute to development and realization of Plant Road Map & Hosh Kanri through SFM, CI-Workshops, Lean Expert Projects, Kaizen activities and cost-down initiatives
- Assess and drive initiatives to improve process efficiency with the use of Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping and all Lean tools
- Application of Daimler Digi-tools and AI in daily work and customer products/services
- Provide regular reporting on project status, potentials/savings and TOS KPIs to OpEx Manager and DDC Operations Support team members and customers to develop operator Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s), optimize process flows, and document working standards (LWIs, SPLs, etc)
- Interpret process standards and Management / organizational policies to the work force; uphold safety and environmental regulations while complying with terms of contractual labor agreement
