Manufacturing Optimization Engineer II- Automation and Factory Transformation
About The Position
The Manufacturing Optimization Engineer II (Automation & Factory Transformation) will lead factory transformation initiatives by applying systems thinking, Lean principles, and automation technologies to redesign and optimize production environments. This role is key in driving scalable, high-impact improvements across multiple facilities within the Marmon Plumbing & Refrigeration Group. As part of Marmon Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway company, you will contribute to industry-leading companies that design, manufacture, and distribute high-quality products for the plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration industries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering, factory design, or manufacturing transformation
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping
- Experience leading process improvement or automation initiatives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate across functions
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree
- Experience with automation, robotics, or Industry 4.0 initiatives
- Exposure to ERP/MES integration
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean certification
- Practical experience with manufacturing quality management systems
- Practical experience with preventative maintenance programs
- Practical experience with Supply chain management processes
- Experience with digital factory modeling or simulation tools
Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing operations from a systems perspective to drive transformation initiatives
- Design and optimize end-to-end value streams to improve throughput and efficiency
- Lead automation projects including design, integration, and implementation of robotics and PLC systems
- Evaluate facility layouts, equipment utilization, and automation strategies
- Translate simulation and modeling insights into actionable transformation roadmaps
- Drive Lean initiatives, including Kaizen events and continuous improvement programs
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to align process improvements with business goals
- Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and performance improvements
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership
