About The Position

This role operates under general supervision, focusing on routine assignments within manufacturing. The operator will apply working general knowledge of technical resources to complete tasks, identify basic problems, and present them to their supervisor. A key aspect of this role is supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, process control, and lean manufacturing. The operator will actively support company-wide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs, including those related to X-ray equipment, and must respond quickly to correct any EHS hazards. This position also supports the evolution and operation of the EHS program.

Requirements

  • Minimum of HS diploma
  • Applies basic knowledge / skills of processes, procedures, equipment and systems in technical area.
  • Applies understanding of company policies and procedures in completion of work.
  • Must have both written and verbal skill to complete job requirements.
  • Ability to work at a computer
  • Able to lift 50lbs
  • All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and II-VI Corporate EHS standards.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations (ITAR), applicant must be a U.S. person, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8. U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains clean and organized work areas.
  • Works on assignments that are routine in nature.
  • Applies working general knowledge of technical resources to complete assigned tasks.
  • Identifies basic problems and presents them to supervisor for next steps.
  • Supports initiatives to continuously improve and reduce variations in specific operations or processes, including Six Sigma training, process control charting, process capability studies, and lean manufacturing.
  • Actively supports company-wide environmental, health and safety programs including radiation safety for work with X-ray equipment.
  • Quickly responds to correct any environmental, health or safety hazard.
  • Provides and supports the evolution and operation of an EHS program.
  • Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
