About The Position

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a manual machine operator. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn and grow with our team. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills, including general PC operation and data entry (Microsoft Office experience preferred)
  • Ability to read measuring tools such as rulers, micrometers, and calipers
  • Strong attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to stand and bend for the entire shift
  • Ability to lift 50–70 lbs. and frequently push or pull bulky materials and carts weighing up to 200 lbs.
  • Willingness to learn and improve in a changing manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to work overtime when requested (typically voluntary)
  • Maintain a professional, ethical, and respectful attitude while working as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Operate in accordance with Merit Brass policies and procedures
  • Produce pipe nipples according to Merit Brass quality standards and goals
  • Support manufacturing by consistently meeting or exceeding department efficiency and productivity goals
  • Work as an effective team member to achieve manufacturing service targets
  • Wear and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Interpret and verify parts being produced against production tickets/travelers (material, diameter, thread type, etc.)
  • Follow all production procedures and work instructions
  • Operate machines of various sizes depending on production needs
  • Start and end production jobs using the data collection system
  • Perform visual and gauge quality inspections approximately every 20 minutes and document results
  • Communicate machine or quality issues to the setup operator or supervisor
  • Complete all required production documentation accurately
  • Place traveler paperwork in each container before producing parts
  • Operate backup machines or assist with floor work during downtime
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and prepare the machine for the next shift
  • Transport parts from holding areas when necessary
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
