About The Position

Axalta Coating Systems is seeking two Manufacturing Operators for their facility in High Point, NC. This role operates on a day shift schedule, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm or 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The position involves running various manufacturing equipment, maintaining housekeeping, and performing duties related to paint, coatings, and chemical mixing. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of manufacturing experience, with a preference for experience in paint, coatings, or chemicals, and at least 1 year of forklift driving experience. This is an active opening with an immediate start date.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 40 hr. work week (including occasional weekday and weekend overtime).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Capability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed team environment.
  • Comfortable working with Hazardous materials while using proper PPE (gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, protective suits...Etc.).
  • Ability to lift/ carry/ push/ pull 50 Lbs. and stand for 8 hrs. per day.
  • Ability to repetitively climb ladders/ stairs, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulders, turn wrench/ valve handles.
  • At least 1 year Forklift Driving experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years Manufacturing experience.
  • Paint, Coatings or Chemicals Manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience operating lift trucks/ material handling.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Run all required equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including pumps, agitators, shakers, scales, transporters/lift trucks, and viscosity measurement tools.
  • Perform daily scale calibrations.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Wash equipment such as tanks, pumps, piping, and loading equipment.
  • Load (charge) various size tanks from 5 to 250-gallon capacity.
  • Load (charge), move, and lift gallon stock, drums, and totes.
  • Follow established process instructions and documentation, including monitoring equipment.
  • Filter product by loading/charging FSI filters and traps.
  • Label containers according to established processes, customer, and DOT requirements.
  • Participate in area cleanup and housekeeping.
  • Perform selective maintenance tasks and equipment switch-outs to keep the process running.
  • Operate computer-controlled equipment.
  • Follow all site and area guidelines pertaining to plant functions and assigned tasks.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to job functions.
  • Assist in the training of other employees.
