About The Position

The Manufacturing Operator II is a frontline manufacturing position responsible for producing Mechanical Packing material. This role requires a combination of mechanical maintenance skills (utilizing machinery and various hand tools), physical laboring skills, and quality skills. The employee will operate a variety of equipment in a production/processing operation, measure and check raw materials to ensure product compliance, and maintain proper manufacturing records to comply with department regulations. Requirements

  • Ability to make decisions based on a set of predetermined parameters.
  • Ability to operate various machines.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written/verbal instructions and sequences of events.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. manually on a frequent basis, using supporting equipment when necessary.
  • Ability to wear a respirator as needed.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small, sharp, and/or specialized tools.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and work well with others.
  • Ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate at least three or more work centers proficiently, including braiding machines, winders, twisters, coating lines, coiling machines, sizing presses, and packaging lines.
  • Set up and efficiently run machinery following appropriate process specifications and/or work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot machinery, fix basic problems, and know when to seek assistance for more complex issues.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct product quality problems during the production process.
  • Use basic hand tools such as cutting equipment, measuring equipment, weighing equipment, and various other hand tools for operating equipment.
  • Operate a computer to execute order inquiries, cycle count adjustments, and other transactions as needed.
  • Cross-train newer operators on multiple work centers.
  • Work under general direction from a supervisor.
