About The Position

Eaton’s Electrical sector, Power Distribution Controls & Assemblies (PDCA) division is seeking an Operations Manager - Fabrication for its Greenwood, SC manufacturing site. Relocation assistance will be provided within the US. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this leadership role is responsible for leading the Fabrications Operations Team in achieving quality, cost, delivery and employee safety goals. Manages the Fabrications Operations Team to achieve Sales Billed and Operating Profit objectives. Our fabrication group consists of powder coating paint lines; Heat Treat; Punches; Presses; Welders; and Robotic automation using both steel and copper materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum five (5) years manufacturing/operations experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years leadership experience, directly managing others in a manufacturing setting
  • Working knowledge of current fabrication, manufacturing, engineering, materials/purchasing and quality assurance methods and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of Lean manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills required.
  • Administrative knowledge is required in information systems, human resources and in controlling key projects and plant initiatives.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working in Fabrication Operations
  • Minimum three (3) years using continues improvement and lean six sigma methodology to drive improvements

Responsibilities

  • Establish operations strategic direction for Laurens Highway plant fabrication department considering the key business drivers of Customer Satisfaction, Growth and Innovation, Profitability and Asset Management, Perfect Quality and Excellence Through People.
  • Develop action plans and objectives from the operations strategic plan. Cascade objectives throughout entire workforce.
  • Responsible for deployment of MESH to support a Zero Incident Culture.
  • Ensure required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to meet customer, manufacturing system and financial reporting requirements.
  • Plan and monitor key metrics to ensure quality, cost, delivery and safety requirements are met.
  • Co-ordinate fabrication with manufacturing schedules and priorities within the production plan to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Control in-process inventory to achieve production requirements with minimum impact on inventory levels.
  • Direct application of capital and people resources to maximize operating efficiency.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and corrective action for production issues.
  • Monitor performance to objectives, implementing responsive tactical changes as required.
  • Foster a relationship of teamwork throughout the operations of the plant.
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout the organization to reduce total cycle time.
  • Encourage innovative approaches to organization improvement.
  • Select and develop a staff to manage the product line.
  • Support and lead parts of OpA process and system.
  • Administer the Performance Management Process for the fabrication department.
  • Establish and monitor safety and housekeeping standards (5S program).
  • Administer plant’s policies and guidelines.
  • Other duties, projects assigned.
