About The Position

The Mogul Lead (PIM Level 7) serves as the frontline operational leader for the Processing and Mogul manufacturing area and is responsible for overseeing daily production activities across the entire manufacturing process from Kitchen through Shakeout. This position provides direct floor leadership, operational coordination, and performance oversight for all processing functions, including Cooking, Batch Making, Trucking, Mogul Operations, Pickout, Shakeout, and associated support activities. The Mogul Lead is accountable for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of production plans while maintaining the highest standards of safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and operational discipline. This role serves as the primary point of coordination between departments and functions to ensure seamless communication, effective resource utilization, and uninterrupted business operations. As the first level of leadership within the Processing organization, the Mogul Lead establishes daily performance expectations, reinforces standard work, coaches and develops team members, drives accountability, and promotes a culture of operational excellence. This role maintains a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and serves as the primary escalation point for operational concerns affecting production, quality, safety, staffing, scheduling, equipment performance, and material flow. The Mogul Lead works closely with Operations Leadership, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Sanitation, Warehouse, Planning, and Continuous Improvement teams to ensure production objectives are achieved and sustainable performance improvements are implemented across the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in manufacturing or food production
  • Demonstrated experience leading high‑volume or critical production lines
  • Advanced understanding of mogul operations, safety, quality, and process control

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and direction for all Processing operations, including Kitchen, Batch Making, Trucking, Mogul Operations, Pickout, Curing, and Shakeout.
  • Maintain ownership of daily floor execution and ensure production schedules are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Establish clear expectations and priorities for processing personnel throughout the shift.
  • Monitor production flow and coordinate resources to maintain uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure proper staffing, coverage, and deployment of personnel based on operational needs.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for production issues, operational disruptions, and manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor and provide hands-on leadership throughout the shift.
  • Promote and reinforce a culture where safety is the highest operational priority.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, food safety requirements, sanitation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Investigate and escalate safety, food safety, and compliance concerns as necessary.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance initiatives.
  • Hold team members accountable for following established procedures, policies, and safety standards.
  • Drive achievement of key performance metrics including throughput, schedule attainment, labor efficiency, quality, waste reduction, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Monitor production performance throughout the shift and take corrective action when performance gaps are identified.
  • Coordinate production activities between departments to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure operational priorities remain aligned with business objectives and production requirements.
  • Minimize downtime through proactive issue identification, communication, and escalation.
  • Support implementation and sustainment of operational excellence initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to Mogul Operators, Technicians, and Senior Technicians.
  • Reinforce expectations related to safety, attendance, performance, quality, and workplace behavior.
  • Support onboarding, training, skills development, and qualification programs.
  • Coach team members on standard work, operational best practices, and manufacturing expectations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous learning.
  • Identify development opportunities and support succession planning efforts within the department.
  • Serve as the primary communication link between Processing Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Engineering, Planning, Sanitation, and Leadership teams.
  • Coordinate activities required to support production continuity and schedule attainment.
  • Ensure operational issues are communicated effectively and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate shift handoffs and communicate key operational information to incoming teams and management.
  • Partner with support departments to resolve equipment, quality, staffing, inventory, and process-related challenges.
  • Drive alignment across functional groups to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, production standards, and operating controls.
  • Maintain process discipline and drive consistency across all processing functions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Reinforce sustainability of improvements through coaching, accountability, and adherence to updated standards.
  • The incumbent is expected to assume additional responsibilities, projects, assignments, cross-training activities, and operational support tasks as required to meet business needs and organizational objectives at the direction of leadership.
