About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Manager to join our H-47 Operations team in Ridley Park, PA. This role manages a team of union represented employees within multiple manufacturing disciplines supporting multiple aircraft configurations. The manager develops and executes integrated plans to achieve cost and schedule targets, as well as overall business goals and objectives. They also develop organizational and technical strategies to drive performance and first-time quality. This position supports daily Tier 1, Tier 2, and weekly CAT and cost meetings to status performance, elevate restraints, review defects, determine root cause, develop corrective actions, and review performance to EAC commitments. The manager works cross-functionally to solve problems impacting the production schedule, provides input to leadership on aircraft operations and delivery status, and manages, develops, and motivates employees to exceed company goals and objectives utilizing Boeing behaviors. Fostering an environment of inclusion and ensuring team performs work safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures are key aspects of this role. The manager acquires resources, provides technical guidance, and identifies process improvements, while developing and maintaining relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
  • Experience implementing lean methodologies and productivity improvements
  • Willing/able to work 2nd shift

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing a Collective Bargaining Unit (CBU) / hourly union-represented workforce
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems common image (MESci) experience
  • Experience in the Aerospace & Defense Industry and/or the military
  • Experience interfacing with senior and executive leadership
  • Strong analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of union represented employees within multiple manufacturing disciplines supporting multiple aircraft configurations
  • Develops and executes integrated plans to achieve cost and schedule targets as well as overall business goals and objectives
  • Develops organizational and technical strategies to drive performance and first-time quality
  • Facilitates daily Tier 1 meetings in accordance with OneBPS best practices to set expectations and drive accountability
  • Supports daily Tier 2 meetings to status performance to established KPI’s and elevate restraints
  • Supports weekly CAT meetings to review defects, determine point of origin and root cause, and develop corrective action plans to prevent defect reoccurrence
  • Supports weekly cost meetings to review performance to EAC commitments and develop strategies to improve weekly cost performance and reduce the overall aircraft cost
  • Works cross-functionally to solve problems impacting the production schedule such as engineering issues, part shortages, and staffing constraints
  • Provides input to leadership on aircraft operations and delivery status as well as major aircraft build milestones and critical restraints
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees to exceed company goals and objectives utilizing the Boeing behaviors
  • Fosters an environment of inclusion utilizing Seek, Speak, and Listen
  • Ensures team is performing work safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Acquires resources, provide technical guidance, and identify process improvements.
