Manufacturing Management Internship
About The Position
This internship offers a comprehensive learning experience in various aspects of manufacturing, focusing on developing leadership skills and understanding operational processes. Interns will engage in cross-departmental projects, receive leadership training, and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives. The role involves building relationships with internal customers and management, contributing to manufacturing strategies, and rotating through all operational departments to gain a holistic view of plant activities. Key responsibilities include ensuring product quality, promoting safe and efficient performance, driving continuous improvement through data analysis, and fostering customer satisfaction. Interns will also be expected to motivate teams, communicate effectively, instill trust, drive results, and ensure accountability.
Requirements
- Student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or a related required
- Hold self accountable to meet commitments
- All team members are expected to follow the Code of Conduct to the highest standards as well as to adhere to the Attendance Policy of VT Industries.
Nice To Haves
- Preference to students at the end of the sophomore and junior year
- Strong desire to work in a lean manufacturing environment is preferred
- Open to rotate through different departments to learn production processes
Responsibilities
- Work in various aspects of manufacturing and complete cross-departmental projects
- Receive leadership training and coaching to improve management skills
- Participate in Kaizen events and implement lean manufacturing processes
- Develop working relationships with internal customers and management teams
- Collaborate and support leadership to develop and execute manufacturing strategies
- Learn processes and develop leadership potential by rotating through all departments of operation
- Assist in leading the overall activities of the plant to ensure the quality of products are met
- Demonstrate and lead safe and efficient performance of daily tasks ensuring adherence to all site and plant standards
- Establish, improve, and sustain performance; leverage data to prioritize actions and drive continuous improvement
- Drive customer satisfaction through strict adherence to product specifications, open communication, and timely follow-up
- Motivate others to action by communicating and acting on the Company’s vision, purpose, and strategy
- Communicate effectively; develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
- Instill trust; gain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity
- Drive result; consistently achieve results even under tough circumstances
- Ensure accountability; hold others accountable to meet commitments
