About The Position

The Maintenance Technician ensures that the plant maintains production following all OSHA policies and working in a safe manner. This role is responsible for facilities both inside and outside of the plant, including shipping and receiving and production areas. The position involves contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, which may be supervised or unsupervised. A review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business, its operations, reputation, and the safety of staff, employees, and vendors.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • Must have at least (3) three years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Have an associate degree or technical degree.
  • Have at least (3) three years of maintenance experience in a PSM chemical manufacturing.
  • Have an Industrial, electrical or welding certifications or license.
  • Have at least (1) one year of maintenance experience applying electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts.
  • Have at least (1) one year of formal training or work experience implementing Programmable Logic Control (PLC).
  • Experienced operating sit-down forklifts (fork trucks), both propane and/or electric.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the necessary maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility equipment according to safety and production maintenance systems.
  • Maintain production and facility equipment, including dryers, chillers, thermos oxidizer, HVAC, fire pump, mixers, mills, all filling line equipment, conveyors, wrappers, tanks, motors, pumps, tank washer, tank tipper, dock maintenance, and building maintenance.
  • Perform checks and refills of lubricant reservoirs, applies grease to lubricant points, and inspects machinery during scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Operate shop tools, equipment, and machines related to maintenance as skill level permits.
  • Make repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling machinery to repair or replace defective components.
  • Assist in electrical projects and perform minor electrical repairs.
  • Understand basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits, and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitry.
  • Assist in pipe fitting tasks and perform some installation tasks unassisted.
  • Perform portions of repairs to power industrial equipment and assist in rebuilding related equipment.
  • Maintain and service a range of building equipment such as HVAC, lighting, water and sewer.
  • Assist in the installation of new plant equipment.
  • Maintain production equipment in good operating condition while optimizing equipment uptime to ensure the safe and timely manufacture of quality coatings.
  • Improve reliability and operating efficiency of plant equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to ensure operation of all equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Support site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
  • Participate in completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed.
  • Operate fork truck following all OSHA safety regulations.
  • Follow all OSHA safety and Sherwin Williams policies and procedures.
