About The Position

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician I is responsible for ensuring equipment/machinery is functioning properly and performing routine preventative maintenance of equipment using and updating a work order system, prioritizing work based on need. The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician I will train Production Technicians to perform routine adjustments and calibrations to machinery and will follow up with a Production Technician on any diagnostics needed to perform a needed repair.

Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Understanding and interpret reliability metrics
  • Requires interpersonal skills in dealing with coworkers, contractors and vendors, mechanical aptitude.
  • Requires zero (0) – two (2) years of experience working on PLC both Siemens S5 and Allen Bradley Prologic
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics and blueprints
  • Strong computer skills and previous experience using on-line work order/preventive maintenance tracking system
  • Requires zero (0) – two (2) years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience in a highly-automated, batching environment
  • A strong track record of maintaining technical competency and remaining current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds
  • Must be a self-starter and have excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures (e.g lock out/tag out) etc..

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and drawings as it pertains to diagnosing, repairing, troubleshooting and improving both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Performing general millwright skills such as, but not limited to: welding, cutting, fabrication, rigging, etc.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing and improving hydraulic, pneumatic and HVAC systems.
  • Installing electrical controls, starting up, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing control panels, measuring and monitoring instruments, telemetry systems and SCADA systems.
  • Performing the field programming of VFD’s, PLC’s and HMI systems in particular Siemens and Allen Bradley.
  • Identifying and managing outside contractors and services when the skills are not within the team.
  • Working with OEM and technical literature to set up Preventive Maintenance, Systematic maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Critical Spares.
  • Developing and sustaining maintenance systems applying standard PM principles and ensuring maintenance tasks (planned, PM and unplanned) are performed promptly and on-time.
  • Performing a wide variety of preventive maintenance (PM) functions on all production and facility equipment adhering to published PM schedules. This includes inspecting drives, motors and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, calibrating weights and scales and performing other maintenance actions according to the work order PM checklist.
  • Supporting the implementation of and sustainment of the Work Order Management System.
  • Applying 5S principles and taking part in 5S activity throughout the plant, continuously proposing actions to improve housekeeping and organization.
  • Learning and applying Lean Manufacturing principles in the day to day activity to remove waste and non-value activity.
  • Suggesting alternative technical/mechanical solutions to meet company & customer requirements more efficiently, and/or with greater reusability, and /or longer life.
  • Controlling downtime by informing Production Technicians of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Maintaining continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Understanding and owning reliability metrics and machine performances (Uptime, MTBF, PM% completion, …).
  • Proposing and executing projects to improve performances.
  • Complying with established facility safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding and other regulations as applicable.
  • Writing and updating Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and identifying, reporting and correcting at-risk situations and behavior.
  • Training Production Technicians to perform routine maintenance and adjustments to machinery and acting as a technical resource to Production Technicians.
