Responsible for moderately complex engineering projects, coordinating work to ensure objectives in terms of quality, cost, and time are met. This role involves preparing project schedules, reviewing cost estimates, and writing appropriation requests. The engineer will be responsible for effective communication of engineering information among team members and will follow Pella’s Safety, Quality, Project Management & Continuous Improvement Systems. The position may supervise assigned technical team members and serve as a resource, providing technical information and engineering recommendations. The role contributes to project identification and definition, develops, implements, and/or supports assigned technologies, products, and processes, and undertakes other projects as assigned by a supervisor. While primarily an individual contributor, the engineer is capable of leading technical projects and may supervise non-exempt and hourly employees. The position requires proven experience beyond education to support and deliver high-quality products and processes through the application of engineering principles, exhibiting competency and developing expertise in multiple engineering technologies. Work may involve conventional practice with complex features like conflicting design requirements or incomplete market requirements, and requires independent evaluation, selection, and application of engineering principles to product and process modifications. The engineer will exercise independent judgment to define project objectives and the engineering/scientific approach, with assignments potentially requiring the development of unclear objectives and investigation of multiple variables.
