About The Position

This position is responsible for performing maintenance tasks within a manufacturing plant, adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The role involves working alone or with other maintenance personnel to disassemble, repair, and reassemble plant machinery. Key responsibilities include inspecting equipment, performing mechanical and electrical repairs, and contributing to preventative maintenance programs. The mechanic will also be involved in safety, autonomous maintenance, and TPM programs, and may be required to operate plant equipment and perform welding tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Two or more years of manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Must be 18 years or older
Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US
Must remain drug and alcohol free
Must read, write and speak English
Must understand verbal and written instructions
Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to follow proper radio etiquette
Must work well in a team environment
Must have the ability to multi-task
Must have the ability to do basic mathematical calculations
Must have a minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience
Must be willing and able to train others on advanced craft or controls related skills
Must learn new controls technologies and systems as required throughout plant
Must pass the written and practical test in electrical, mechanical, machine shop, and welding
Must attend internal and external training school

Responsibilities

Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements.
Utilizes all LTT principles as required.
Participates in the safety, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs.
Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to environmental regulations and recycling procedures.
Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations.
Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel.
Notifies Front Line Leader immediately of all injuries, near misses, or first aid.
Understands all regulations for safety harness protection.
Understands lock-out/tag-out procedures for energy sources and correctly de-energizes machines for maintenance.
Works alone or assists maintenance personnel in disassembling, repairing, and reassembling plant machinery.
Makes replacement parts, fits, aligns, and adjusts plant equipment.
Inspects equipment for defective parts, wear, or unsatisfactory conditions and reports findings to supervisors.
Supports motor replacements, installs, and repairs, speed reducers, bearings, slip rings, brushes, sprockets, gears, rolls, and conduit.
Splices wires either alone or with assistance.
Learns to use electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
Makes mechanical repairs, separately or in conjunction with electrical installations/repairs under supervision.
Submits reports as directed.
Operates plant mobile and hoisting equipment as directed.
Performs routine acetylene cutting and welding without supervision.
Installs interference fit and clearance fit bearings within tolerance without supervision.
Establishes goals, prioritizes, and organizes actions, timelines, and resources.
Understands customer needs and takes action to address them.
Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise.
Ensures standard operating procedures and processes are in place.
Performs other related duties as directed by the area leader.
