About The Position

Rustic Bakery is hiring two Lead positions on 3rd shift: a Production Lead and a Packaging Lead. Both roles are key to keeping our overnight operations running smoothly and offer the opportunity to lead a team in a fast-paced bakery environment. Regularly scheduled hours will be 9:00pm or 10:00pm to 5:30 or 6:30am, Sunday through Thursday (and Friday during busy season, the 6th day will qualify for overtime). All third shift positions earn an extra $1.00/hour in addition to the base rate.

Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Communicates effectively and accurately.
  • Fully bilingual (English & Spanish).
  • Shows good judgment, sound reasoning, and good decision-making skills.
  • Competent teaching, team building and training abilities; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate people.
  • Ability to use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to accurately record results.
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good punctuality and attendance
  • Ability to work Sunday through Thursdays (and Fridays during the busy season), overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • 2 - 3 years of related experience working in similar industry.
  • Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production of product, including maintaining specifications and quality
  • Schedule employee work shifts, breaks, and lunches according to the production/product schedule
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
  • Understand products, allergens, and methods to ensure safe, quality food across multiple product lines
  • Ensure employees safely operate equipment and handle materials, including moving dough to and from production lines and ovens
  • Ensure all employees follow GMP for their work area
  • Ensure the Master Sanitation Schedule is followed
  • Complete all production department logs daily, including verification signatures
  • Perform additional duties as needed and occasionally assist other departments
  • Supervise warehouse packers and oversee the team's daily packing of finished products (wholesale and specialty Café cookies), including specification and quality, according to schedule
  • Track inventory of packing materials stored in the warehouse
  • Ensure rest breaks and meal periods are taken according to schedule
  • Supervise and train employees to safely operate material handling equipment
  • Ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection
  • Direct the movement of finished product pallets, including completing, wrapping, and staging pallet sheets for transfer to the finished goods warehouse
  • Check that materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
  • Maintain awareness of CCPs and company preventive controls to ensure food safety
  • Ensure proper rotation of warehouse inventories
  • Complete required logs at the direction of the Department Lead
