About The Position

The Manufacturing Technologist has a lead role in the manufacturing of VMRD diagnostic products by performing laboratory production processes, preparing reagents, maintaining quality standards, documenting work, managing inventory, and operating laboratory equipment. The Technologist both collaborates well with others and is able to work independently, taking initiative, managing projects and prioritizing effectively. The technologist mentors and trains laboratory personnel in accordance with established procedures, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all policies, protocols, regulatory guidelines, and SOPs; Develops and updates SOPs as needed
  • Manufactures ELISA kits (plate coating, optimization)
  • Cultures cells, viruses, bacteria, microorganisms
  • Purifies proteins via salt precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, size restriction, affinity matrix
  • Evaluates proteins via BCA quantitation, spectrophotometric analysis; Conjugates proteins
  • Makes buffers (sterile filtration, dilutions, pools)
  • Runs and interprets assays: IFA, AGID, ELISA, RID
  • Performs in-process quality control and monitoring
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed
  • Calibrates, operates and maintains equipment
  • Analyzes and interprets data
  • Troubleshoots and identifies areas for process improvement
  • Mentors Manufacturing Assistants, Manufacturing Technicians, and Manufacturing Technologists
  • Works with R&D to transfer new technology
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of production
  • Detail oriented in inventory management for supplies, raw materials, and chemicals
