Manufacturing Integration & Test Engineer II

Relativity Space•Long Beach, CA

About The Position

The Manufacturing Integration & Test Engineer II owns hardware from design release through build, test, and delivery for engine or vehicle systems. The role is responsible for execution readiness and product quality across subassemblies and integrated systems, and supports first-article builds while developing scalable processes for higher production rates. The engineer creates build flows, work instructions, and test procedures; provides hands-on support on the manufacturing floor; resolves issues with technicians; and drives continuous improvement. The role also coordinates with design, supply chain, production, and test teams on part readiness, tooling, schedules, and handoffs. Additional work includes contributing to long-term manufacturing systems and infrastructure, such as tooling strategies, ERP/MES workflows, and production documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing or integration environment.
  • Experience investigating hardware issues, resolving non-conformances, and driving root cause analysis with effective corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with general assembly and test procedures, including tolerance stack-up analysis, structural proof testing, and pressurized leak checks.
  • Ability to work across design, manufacturing, supply chain, and test teams to ensure hardware quality and schedule alignment.
  • Ability to define and roll out new processes from scratch, collaborating with technicians, engineers, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, CAD, and basic design or test analysis.
  • Experience in at least two of the following: LOX cleanliness, leak checking, sensor checkouts, tube bending, tool design, crane operations, or subassembly builds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting new aerospace product introduction or transitioning hardware from prototype to production, especially in a high-rate or scaling environment.
  • Experience authoring and executing test procedures, including serving as a test conductor for integrated system verification.
  • Familiarity with hazardous operations, fluid system safety, or test execution in pressurized or high-risk environments.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, lean environment, including direct vendor engagement, tool development, or leading a small team through an ambiguous build or test effort.

Responsibilities

  • Own hardware from design release through build, test, and delivery for engine or vehicle systems, ensuring execution readiness and product quality across subassemblies and integrated systems.
  • Develop and release detailed build flows, work instructions, and test procedures for repeatable, high-quality execution.
  • Support first-article builds, focusing on manufacturability, repeatability, quality, and scalable processes for production ramp-up.
  • Provide hands-on floor support during build and test, resolve issues in real time, incorporate technician feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with design, supply chain, production, and test teams to ensure part readiness, tooling availability, schedule alignment, and smooth handoffs.
  • Contribute to long-term manufacturing systems and infrastructure, including tooling strategies, ERP/MES workflows, and production documentation standards.
  • Investigate hardware issues, resolve non-conformances, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Generous PTO and sick leave policy
  • Parental leave
