About The Position

This role is part of Alcon's IT Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The MES Engineer (IT-Focused) is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) as enterprise applications within a regulated environment. This role ensures system reliability, data integrity, and compliance with GxP, FDA, and ISO standards while aligning MES platforms with broader IT architecture and business systems. The position works cross-functionally with IT, Manufacturing, Quality, Automation (SCADA), and ERP (SAP) teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing application solutions at our Manufacturing Facility in Johns Creek, GA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline
  • Experience with AI and Machine Learning
  • Experience with MS Planner, Kneat, Teams Center, Simens Op Center, Pas-X
  • Validation experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and deploy MES solutions aligned with manufacturing processes
  • Translate business and production requirements into MES system configurations
  • Support system integrations with SCADA, ERP (e.g., SAP), and equipment systems
  • Provide front-line and escalation support for MES-related production issues
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure timely resolution of system issues to minimize production impact
  • Support IT validation lifecycle activities (URS, IQ/OQ/PQ, RTM, validation reports)
  • Ensure MES compliance with FDA, GxP, and ISO 13485 requirements
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support inspections
  • Identify and implement system enhancements to improve efficiency and usability
  • Analyze MES data and trends to support operational decisions
  • Participate in MES upgrades, releases, and optimization initiatives
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation
  • Support change control processes
  • Ensure proper documentation for system configurations and workflows
  • Train production users and stakeholders on MES functionality
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, IT, and Automation teams
  • Support change management and user adoption initiatives
