About The Position

The Assembly Manufacturing Engineer Technician is responsible for supporting production, quality, manufacturing engineering, and maintenance by helping to technically troubleshoot and maintain process flow. The technician will be required to solve problems by troubleshooting and determining the root cause and helping to implement permanent corrective actions. The technician will also be required to help implement new processes and related equipment and tooling. The technical aspects will include but are not limited to: Assembly fixtures, Assembly torque tooling (Atlas Copco Equipment), 480VAC and 24VDC control systems, Trouble shooting processes using PLC logic, Assembly equipment and conveyors, Suspension alignment equipment, Paint spray equipment, Paint process equipment (paint booth, ovens, washer, conveyors), Wheel End equipment (hubs, lube, calipers), Cam Tube assembly equipment, Traceability & Error proofing methods and software (NGTT & barcode equipment).

Requirements

  • 3rd shift position
  • Three years’ experience in manufacturing facility.
  • Candidate must demonstrate an ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and be able to interpret sketches, verbal instructions, and mathematical data to identify tooling, gauging, and fixturing details.
  • Candidate must demonstrate an ability to read and understand machine electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting experience including software and communication experience is required.
  • Process troubleshooting including pneumatics, and 480VAC and 24VDC control systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong communication and project organization abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, and formal training in pneumatics, and electrical troubleshooting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in an Engineering related field preferred
  • Experience in manual and automated assembly applications is desirable.
  • 2D drawing and 3D modeling experience is preferred. (AutoCad, PTC Creo)
  • Hands-on experience in tooling & fixturing methods is preferred.
  • Paint process and equipment experience preferred.
  • Production experience is preferred.
  • Product traceability experience is preferred.
  • Minor project management skills are preferred.
  • Towmotor driving experience is preferred.
  • Man-lift operation experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain process capability and first pass yield and reduce scrap by helping to determine root cause and implementing permanent corrective actions.
  • Assist production and maintenance with technical issues causing downtime, reduction in first pass yield, or unsafe conditions.
  • Continual improvement of process and product quality. Improve methods (PCR process). Annual cost reduction projects.
  • Help implement new and existing processes to support new products.
  • Help implement new equipment, tooling, and fixtures while maintaining a safe and ergonomic workspace.
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner, following company standards, with minimal supervision.
  • Utilize online resources, manuals, prints and machine paperwork to troubleshoot equipment efficiently and effectively (mechanically and electrically).
  • Implement procedure and documentation updates (LOTO, PM, Engineering Alerts, Machine Prints).
  • Training operators on new/updated processes.
  • Assist/Direct maintenance with repairs and projects.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of plant layouts.
