About The Position

Trust Automation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician (MFGE Technician) with technical expertise and hands-on engineering and manufacturing experience. This role focuses on developing processes and improvements for new products, as well as sustaining and improving existing products. The position is divided into three classifications: Level 1 (introductory), Level 2 (intermediate), and Level 3 (highest level), with increasing experience, autonomy, and accountability at each level. Trust Automation has over 35 years of experience in custom motors, linear drives, digital drives, and systems, serving demanding defense, semiconductor, industrial automation, and medical applications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 10 years experience in a related manufacturing engineering technician role.
  • Ability to create electrical schematics and/or mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and machining/shop equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with Solidworks (mechanical).
  • Experience with Altium or OrCAD (electrical).
  • Strong component level troubleshooting skills in both Analog and Digital circuits and cabling (electrical).
  • Programming skills at hardware level (electrical).
  • Knowledge of ATE equipment software & solutions (electrical).
  • Professional written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP.
  • Good arithmetic and logic ability.
  • J-STD-001 for soldering workmanship (electrical).
  • Work toward understanding the AS9100C standard(s).
  • May participate in the identity verification process to access secure client or government portals by authorizing certified supplier or customer management platforms to obtain information from your personal credit profile or other information, solely to verify your identity.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technician resource for Engineering teams and Engineering Program management during Prototype and LRIP phases.
  • Assemble electro-mechanical assemblies with minimal/no supervision.
  • Perform validation of the design and/or materials used for a product’s assembly and test steps.
  • Assist in the design of, and build, assembly/test fixtures and develop/sustain preventative maintenance plans for them.
  • Support the MFGE Manager and other MFGE personnel in devising part and product solutions by performing assembly/disassembly or testing tasks with an eye for improvements and incorporation of lean principles.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues during prototype and LRIP phases and work with MFG to solve production-related assembly or testing problems.
  • Serve as a technician backup for Manufacturing during labor shortages.
  • Build, test, and document production and test cables.
  • Train Manufacturing and MFGE personnel on assembly (mechanical) or test (electrical) techniques for specific products and their subassemblies.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, and offer initial solutions and support development of improvement plans.
  • Apply configuration management principles (e.g., revision control rules).
  • Perform tasks under ISS tool control: NCR, IRO, CI (Continuous Improvement), Deviation, DCO (Document Change Order).
  • Record work performed to allow development of formalized, repeatable, and reliable work and/or test instructions.
  • Participate in interdepartmental processes such as Drawing Release, Work Instruction Release, FW Release.
  • Create data for ERP/MRP implementation regarding Work Order planning and confer with Configuration Specialists and Planners for accurate Production Lists and part master records.
  • Create and/or edit mechanical part and assembly drawings in Solidworks (mechanical).
  • Create and/or edit electrical component and assembly drawings/schematics in Altium or OrCAD (electrical).
  • Other duties as assigned.
