The Manufacturing Engineer Technician will be responsible for supporting manufacturing readiness and capabilities, implementing and maintaining production environment setup, and reviewing and improving production planning. Will act as a direct-supporting link between manufacturing operators, production support and engineering. The role will emphasize and focus on electrical and electro-mechanical assembly.

Requirements

  • Associates degree
  • Some manufacturing experience, preferably in the defense industry
  • Hands-on experience using, maintaining, and supporting manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to travel at least 5% of the time
  • Knowledge of various electronics manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Experience performing or directly supporting fastening, wiring, soldering, fabrication, assembly, testing
  • Ability to interpret drawings, product and performance specifications, and systems integration technical data
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Working knowledge of assembly manufacturing processes
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes
  • Awareness of IPC-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 electronics standards

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a technical field
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Lean / Six Sigma Yellow, Green, or Black Belt Certification
  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations
  • Experience identifying and capturing best manufacturing practices into work instructions
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Inventor, Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, tooling, and fixtures for circuit card assemblies (CCA), electronic box build assemblies, wiring harnesses, cabinet assemblies, and final products
  • Implements, maintains, and improves manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective assembly, integration, inspection, and testing of electronic products
  • Supports development and improvement of manufacturing processes for new electronic designs, including production equipment, assembly methods, test support, and production flow
  • Refines and enhances production processes by applying continuous improvement methods and Lean manufacturing principles across electrical and electro-mechanical manufacturing
  • Reviews defect trends, rework drivers, and cycle times to identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve quality through changes to assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, materials, and product design
  • Interprets engineering requirements, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material to establish and support production work instructions.
  • Assists with manufacturing documentation, including FMEA, control plans, process flows, work instructions, travelers, and inspection and test plans.
  • Troubleshoots production issues and provides technical guidance to manufacturing teams using process knowledge, data analysis, and root cause investigation; works directly with engineering to implement engineering changes as assigned
  • Participates in design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, supplier quality reviews and audits, first article inspections, failure investigations, and other assigned tasks
