About The Position

Vertiv is seeking a highly capable engineer with a background in Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Project Engineering to support its Integrated Solutions business unit, focused on custom, engineer-to-order (ETO) production environments. This role bridges product design and manufacturing execution, driving optimized material flow, process design, visual management, and advanced manufacturing integration. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering foundation and a systems-thinking approach to designing scalable, efficient, and repeatable production processes for highly customized products. The position supports operational excellence through lean manufacturing, digital and visual factory design, and deployment of new manufacturing technologies. The role requires regular work around the manufacturing floor, including standing, walking, and moving for extended periods. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds is required. Travel is listed as 10% or 25%. The successful candidate is expected to embrace Vertiv’s core principles of safety, integrity, respect, teamwork, and diversity and inclusion, and its priorities of customer focus, operational excellence, high-performance culture, innovation, and financial strength. Vertiv will employ only people legally authorized to work in the United States and will not provide work authorization sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process design, or production engineering; ETO or high-mix experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process design, material flow, and factory layout.
  • Experience with CAD tools, ERP/MRP systems, and engineering-to-manufacturing integration.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions specific to UPS manufacturing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership and project management abilities, including experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the manufacturing floor for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the employer does not provide sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Experience in ETO or high-mix manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize end-to-end manufacturing processes for custom ETO products, including layout, work sequencing, and material flow.
  • Develop scalable production models that balance flexibility and efficiency in low-to-medium-volume, high-mix environments.
  • Drive line design, workstation definition, and assembly methodologies aligned with engineering intent.
  • Establish material presentation, kitting strategies, and point-of-use delivery systems.
  • Implement visual management systems, including production control boards, standard work, and factory-wide visual standards.
  • Partner with supply chain and operations to align material availability with production flow.
  • Lead lean initiatives such as 5S, standard work, value stream mapping, and waste elimination, tailored to ETO complexity.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve throughput, reduce lead time, and increase productivity using data-driven methods.
  • Evaluate, design, and deploy manufacturing technologies, including automation, digital tools, and smart factory systems.
  • Support integration of engineering design outputs, including CAD, BOMs, and routings, into manufacturing execution systems.
  • Drive innovation in tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids to improve quality and ergonomics.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure custom solutions are designed for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).
  • Serve as a technical interface between engineering, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • Support new product introductions and configuration-driven production setups.
  • Define process controls and quality checks aligned with product and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop standardized work instructions and documentation for repeatable execution.
