The Manufacturing Engineering Manager (NPI) is responsible for ensuring the effective use of material, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum cost. This role involves providing guidance on design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA), assessing assembly process feasibility, reviewing Bills of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing alignment, interpreting drawings and specifications, and managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). The position also supports prototype and pre-production builds, develops and optimizes assembly processes, designs and procures assembly tooling and fixtures, and provides support for the first production builds and issue resolution. Additionally, the manager will determine and specify requirements for special assembly machines, equipment, and tooling, including torque, adhesive, and critical process controls. They will develop operator training materials and lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives. For site transfers, the role involves preparing manufacturing transfer packages, including standardized work instructions for Asia manufacturing facilities, tooling and fixture documentation, BOM and configuration control, and assessing Asia site launch readiness, which includes on-site launch support, ramp assistance, and operator/technician training. The manager will also manage ECO change communication and update management, and provide post-launch issue support and sustaining documentation. This role requires scheduling and implementing process improvements focused on defect reduction, cost reduction, and assembly optimization, and managing the utilization of SPC data to direct the Manufacturing Engineering department's process improvement focus.
