The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead the manufacturing engineering team in supporting shop floor operations, capital projects, new product introductions, estimating, methods improvement, cost reduction, and strategic business initiatives. This role involves large-scale project management, cross-functional team leadership, and managing large capital plans. The manager will work closely with various departments to enhance manufacturability, product quality, throughput, and profitability. Responsibilities include supervising floor plans, plant layouts, and facility concepts for new and existing manufacturing operations. The role also entails leading manufacturing readiness for new product introductions and engineering changes, directing start-up activities for new and revised lines, and ensuring the optimization and validation of manufacturing processes. Documentation, standardization, and safety in process and equipment design are key aspects, as is the supervision of Tool Room activities. The manager will oversee equipment selection, procurement, and implementation, driving automation and technology adoption. Lean manufacturing principles will be applied to optimize workflow and efficiency. Establishing and reporting on key performance metrics, driving continuous improvement, and managing technical relationships with suppliers are also crucial. The role requires responsiveness to shop floor issues, leading root cause analysis, and managing the manufacturing engineering team through hiring, coaching, and development.
