About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides leadership and direction to the Manufacturing Engineering Department and serves as a critical link between Design Engineering and Manufacturing Operations. This position is responsible for overseeing manufacturing engineering activities including shop routing optimization, automated production equipment programming and configuration, process improvement initiatives, and production support functions. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency, maintain quality standards, reduce costs, and support the successful execution of manufacturing processes.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of manufacturing, engineering, or operations experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience administering and maintaining an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, engineering drawings, governmental regulations, and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts including algebra, geometry, statistics, ratios, percentages, and engineering calculations.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing and operational data, interpret graphs and charts, and apply mathematical reasoning to support process improvement, problem-solving, and decision-making activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ERP/manufacturing software systems utilized by the company, CAD software, and other engineering and manufacturing technologies as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership or supervisory experience managing multiple employees preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and process optimization activities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily manufacturing engineering backup in the event of an absence.
  • Identify cost savings through process and design improvements.
  • Ensure the Manufacturing Engineering Department meets daily objectives in supporting production, including machine programming, shop paperwork and labels, shop drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize shop routing times to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S workplace organization, and visual management systems.
  • Administer and maintain the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, including the Quality Manual, document control processes, corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives, and internal audit activities.
  • Provide daily manufacturing engineering support and backup coverage in the event of employee absences or increased departmental workload.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through process improvements, design improvements, waste reduction, and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment while ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Directly supervises employees as assigned and carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
