Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads manufacturing engineering execution and production readiness for the Electric Power operations team in Griffin, GA. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, and operational performance in a high-volume assembly environment by leading a team of engineers, owning capital and process improvements, and ensuring manufacturing systems support efficient, reliable production. This leader will play a critical role in strengthening accountability, advancing continuous improvement efforts, and supporting new product introduction (NPI) from design through production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Working knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service. Documents major considerations of product promotions and analyzes their effect on production and required capacity. Provides management reports on actual and projected capacity requirements. Uses available tools to interpret forecasts and work out required capacity. Participates in developing short-term capacity requirements for a specific product or plant. Collects and collates key elements of demand chain used in developing capacity requirements.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Working knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process. Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas. Participates in documenting data, ideas, players, stakeholders, and processes. Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns. Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Extensive knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes. Manages the adoption of lean manufacturing principles across the organization. Teaches others about how lean approach integrates operations, customers, logistics and product development. Consults on work cell design and plan layout in support of lean principles. Consults on the use of lean approaches across multiple functions. Trains others on key lean measurements and tools and techniques for measuring performance. Participates in detailed planning for implementing and monitoring lean manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Extensive knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process. Advises others using industry experience and benchmarks for methodology effectiveness. Develops best practices documentation for all major activities and tasks. Trains others on all major tasks and considerations for the full manufacturing process. Participates in measuring and monitoring new processes and technologies. Selects and optimizes specific methodologies for specific products. Evaluates benefits, drawbacks and appropriateness of alternative processes and technologies.
  • Performance Management: Working knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance. Identifies opportunities to enhance performance, e.g., practice assignments, training, shadowing. Ensures performance goals, checkpoints, and feedback focus on behaviors. Provides documented input to formal performance review conducted by manager. Observes individual performance and provides fair and objective feedback. Uses formal and informal rewards and recognition programs for employees.
  • Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort. Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts. Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate. Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes. Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies. Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
  • Experience leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience managing or supporting capital projects (CAPEX)
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and culture

Nice To Haves

  • Strong people leadership and performance management experience, including holding teams accountable
  • Background in manufacturing engineering, operations or quality leadership
  • Experience with NPI and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)

  • Lead and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, driving performance, accountability and technical capability
  • Own manufacturing readiness, including process validation, standard work and production support
  • Drive a safety-first culture and reinforce safety behaviors across manufacturing operations
  • Execute and manage capital projects (CAPEX) and indirect spend to improve capacity, efficiency and reliability
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain to resolve production issues and improve performance
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to ensure successful product launches
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, cycle time and cost
  • Improve manufacturing quality performance (DPU) and production stability
  • Ensure effective technical onboarding, training and development of engineering talent
  • Operate with urgency to support production uptime and fast-paced operational demands
