About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial or Mechanical Engineering student for a summer internship. This role offers hands-on experience working directly with operations and product development teams across multiple boat manufacturing facilities. The intern will play a key role in improving manufacturing efficiency, supporting capacity planning efforts, and helping reduce waste and rework. This is a highly interactive, on-the-floor role with real impact on production processes. This role is ideal for someone interested in manufacturing, operations, and continuous improvement who wants to see the direct impact of their work on real products. For those with a passion for watersports, boating, or fishing, it offers a rare opportunity to combine that interest with real-world engineering experience. Travel Requirement: 50–75% travel to manufacturing facilities in Beaufort, NC and Monticello, AR.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, basic modeling)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical foundation
  • Comfortable working on the production floor for extended periods
  • Available full-time (40 hours/week) for the duration of the summer internship (ASAP)
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50–75% during the internship
  • Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time studies on new and existing products to establish standard work and operational methods
  • Analyze time study data to support line balancing and throughput optimization
  • Create and maintain 2D CAD layouts of manufacturing facilities and equipment
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions to improve production flow and throughput
  • Support initiatives to reduce waste, defects, and rework in manufacturing processes
  • Review and audit Bills of Materials (BOM) to identify gaps and enhance accuracy
  • Assist in the design, development, or sourcing of tools, equipment, and fixtures
  • Perform product and process analysis to improve cost, quality, and efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, and production
  • Support additional projects and tasks as assigned
