About The Position

This internship offers an Engineering student the chance to work alongside senior engineers in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and automation work cells. The role involves individual and team assignments focused on implementing automation and robotic technologies, emphasizing manufacturing and Kaizen principles.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of undergraduate work towards a major in electronic, industrial or automation engineering or related field.
  • Skills in MS Office, Outlook, internet, etc.
  • Clear written, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn fast and multitask.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to stoop, reach and lift with your body and arms.
  • Ability to see details at close range and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to quickly move your hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Ability to use hand tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior professional internships, relevant Lab or University experience a plus.
  • Basic drafting experience a plus.
  • Robotics and/or Electronics Assembly (SMT) experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with revising and validating products for manufacturability and automation utilization.
  • Assist with design and implementation of automation and robotics equipment with a focus on electronics assembly.
  • Assess product construction and materials for internal and external process acceptability.
  • Support implementation of Engineering Change Orders.
  • Perform basic ECO tasks including drawing revisions, BOM revisions, and revise/release of documentation (Work Instructions, Work Order Routers).
  • Assist in drafting and execution of test protocols for process validation.
  • Contribute to automation utilization through design/documentation changes.
  • Assist in reducing process changeover through product consolidation.
  • Support defect reduction and error proofing in Surface Mount Technology and robotics work cells.
