About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op to support the optimization of manufacturing processes and the development of a robust asset management program. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve equipment performance, process efficiency, quality, and safety. You will gain hands-on experience supporting production operations, equipment implementation, process improvement initiatives, and continuous improvement projects while developing valuable technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and complete assignments efficiently and effectively.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to document technical processes and procedures clearly.
  • Experience with CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site at least four days per week.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous co-op, internship, or industry experience.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes or previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Interest in process optimization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, revision, and maintenance of standard work instructions, work orders, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Assist with root cause analysis investigations and corrective action implementation for process and equipment issues.
  • Support the build, installation, qualification, and startup of new manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost efficiency across manufacturing operations.
  • Design, build, and operate test fixtures to support manufacturing and engineering objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, evaluate, and optimize production processes.
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing manufacturing data to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support asset management activities to improve equipment reliability, utilization, and performance.
  • Document findings, process changes, and project results clearly and effectively.
