About The Position

IEM is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Metal Fabrication (E2) to support the commissioning, implementation, and optimization of metal fabrication manufacturing processes within our rapidly expanding switchgear operations. This intermediate-level role involves independent execution of equipment launches, training development, and process optimization activities. This position requires 100% onsite presence in our Jacksonville sites and does not offer remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, or related technical field
  • Must have knowledge of CNC machines, metal forming, fabrication processes, and their requirements.
  • Minimum 3-year experience in a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in 3D CAD/CAM Software (Solidworks preferred)
  • Competency in GD&T required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in an on-site production environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking ability

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to equipment commissioning or production ramp-up
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing tools (OEE, SPC, etc.)
  • Experience working with CNC equipment OEMs such as Amada or similar
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
  • Knowledge of machinery design

Responsibilities

  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of metal fabrication equipment (CNC punching, press brakes, welding, powder coating, wire processing, and busbar equipment)
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors during setup, FAT/SAT, and production ramp-up
  • Assist with manufacturing cell layout, material flow, and facility readiness
  • Support operator and maintenance training during equipment launch
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, and quality control standards
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve safety, ergonomics, and process stability
  • Implement and maintain OEE systems to track and improve machine efficiency
  • Analyze incidents and quality issues, define and implement corrective actions
  • Participate in automation initiatives by employing robotic manufacturing, material handling, and inspection.
  • Implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce machine down times.
  • Develop standard work, SOPs, and training materials for operators and technicians
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, supply chain, facilities, and EHS teams
  • Occasional travel to vendors or other IEM facilities as required
