About The Position

Responsible for designing an optimal process for fabricating orthopedic implants and instruments per customer purchase orders requirements. The processes include both primary and secondary operations.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years related experience
  • Highly proficient with one or more of the following CNC machines: EDM RAM, EDM Wire, Lathe, Mill, Mill-Turn, Swiss.
  • 3D CAD Skills
  • CAM programming skills
  • Experienced in use of caliper, micrometer, OC and height gage for dimensional inspection.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and the internet.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Strong mechanical and trouble shooting ability.
  • Ability to contribute to a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Research new industry methodologies to assure the latest process technology is being applied to the fabrication of orthopedic implants and instruments.
  • Develop/modify CNC programs, design fixtures and create set up sheets. Specify part holding techniques, speeds, feeds and tooling. Verify program before release to production.
  • Assist with machine setup and operation until the 1st lot is complete and accepted.
  • Identify all special tooling required and assure tooling ordered in time to support part fabrication.
  • Create product and process specifications and other internal documents.
  • Work toward becoming proficient with programming, operating and set up of several different machining platforms.
  • Effectively manage tool life with the goal of longer unattended machine operation.
  • Practice effective project management skills including scheduling and conducting meetings with published minutes and action plans.
  • Mentor less experienced manufacturing engineering or manufacturing personnel.
  • Prepare and/or review engineering change requests; develop and oversee preparation and implementation of all engineering change notices and document change control.
  • Participate in contract review meetings. Identify drawing anomalies and suggest design changes that will increase manufacturability.
  • Participate in new job reviews and design for manufacturing sessions. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvements.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Adhere to company safety requirements.
  • Assure that assigned activities are performed in accordance with Seabrook Quality System procedures.
