About The Position
MAAG Group is a global partner for the polymer industry, formed by the merger of eight successful companies. They specialize in manufacturing gear pumps, pelletizing and filtration systems, and pulverizers for various industries including polymer, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food. This role is pivotal in enhancing manufacturing processes and ensuring product quality. The Manufacturing Engineer will lead improvements in the Pelletizer rotor grinding process, automation initiatives in sifter deck manufacturing and rotor damage inspection, and the development of inspection tools and manufacturing fixtures. They will also analyze production KPIs, drive improvements, develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), support equipment maintenance, and ensure the operational efficiency of automated robotic grinding cells. Domestic travel is required up to 25%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Seven (7) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D drawings engineering design software, Solidworks or AutoCad.
- Five (5) years of experience in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Three (3) years of experience in Engineering modeling software such as Creo7.0 and Catia V5.
- Three (3) years of experience in Lean Manufacturing using Green Belt processes.
- Three (3) years of experience in Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Two (2) years of experience in CAD/CAM Software.
- Two (2) years of experience in Robots/cobots in manufacturing.
- Two (2) years of experience in Developing Digital Standard Work.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead improvements to the Pelletizer rotor grinding process by evaluating grinding programs for Haas, Schneeberger-Corvus, and Drake CNC machines to optimize tool paths, identify and implement the best tools, and develop pallet loader/unloader systems for grinding processes.
- Lead automation initiatives in the sifter deck manufacturing process and rotor damage inspection by demonstrating an understanding of the wood-based sifter deck assembly process and the ability to program collaborative robots (cobots) for assembly.
- Develop an inspection tool utilizing cameras and proximity sensors to assess rotor damage and generate reports.
- Create manufacturing and inspection fixtures for bearing cartridge assembly, sifter deck assembly, cyclone assemblies, pelletizing cutting chambers, and polymer extrusion gear pumps and screen changers to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Analyze daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reported by production teams.
- Identify trends and report findings to management.
- Drive improvements in production KPIs by addressing safety issues, defects, and rework.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions for production and customer-facing teams, utilizing Dozuki/MS Office to digitize and format these documents for easy access.
- Provide support for equipment maintenance and OEM maintenance schedules to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Recommend critical parts for inventory.
- Support new product launches to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
- Be responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency of the fully automated robotic disk grinding cell and minimizing downtime.
