About The Position

This role involves participating in multiple engineering projects to support plant operations, ranging from process improvements to the development and installation of new tooling. The Manufacturing Engineer will represent the company professionally with customers and suppliers, assist with machine breakdowns when maintenance cannot resolve them in a timely manner, and act as an active leader in problem-solving analysis and developing irreversible corrective actions for quality issues. The position requires ownership of PDCA items, teaching, leading, and continuously improving all business areas, and taking initiatives from the Engineering Manager. The engineer will interface with all aspects of operations, including quality, materials, and maintenance, and must understand DMS operations such as sequencing/sub-assembly, shipping, and receiving. They will also follow and improve DMS business systems, work closely with other engineers for continuity, and communicate effectively with operators and management. Specific project leadership includes the P702 IP and Center Console (CC) Wire harness, developing and implementing poke yokes for quality escapes, and developing preventive maintenance programs with engineering and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • 1 year of experience as Manufacturing Engineer or Quality Engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with IATF 16949 quality systems required.
  • Experience with APQP systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in multiple engineering projects that support plant operations.
  • Represent DMS in a professional manner with customers and suppliers.
  • Assist with Machine Breakdowns when maintenance cannot fix in a timely manner.
  • Active leader in problem solving analysis and developing irreversible corrective actions of quality issues.
  • Ownership of PDCA items.
  • Teach, lead and continuously improve all areas of the business.
  • Take initiatives from Engineering Manager.
  • Interface with all aspects of operations including quality, materials and maintenance.
  • Understand DMS operations (Sequencing/sub–assembly, shipping and receiving).
  • Follow and improve the DMS business systems.
  • Work very closely with the other engineers to ensure continuity.
  • Work with and effectively communicate with operators on the floor as well as DMS Management.
  • Lead engineer on P702 IP and Center Console (CC) Wire harness.
  • Work with P702 IP and CC quality and operations teams to develop and implement poke yokes for processes that have had quality escapes.
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to develop preventive maintenance programs.
