About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer owns daily production and process performance for the digital seal assembly lines at TydenBrooks Digital operations. The role drives manual assembly lines toward world-class OEE and yield, owns and continuously improves in-line inspection stations, and directly leads the assembly team while coaching team leads to run shifts independently. The position works cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain, translating shop-floor learnings into process improvements and product feedback. It also identifies automation opportunities, develops business cases, and implements approved projects. The role is based in Novi, Michigan, is full-time and exempt, and reports to the Director of Engineering. It includes limited travel of up to 10% for supplier visits, equipment evaluation, and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field), or equivalent technical experience.
  • Three to five years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in an assembly environment.
  • Direct shop-floor experience supervising assembly personnel, coaching operators, creating SOPs, and running daily production.
  • Experience implementing Lean manufacturing, including cycle-time analysis, line balancing, waste elimination, and DMAIC-driven continuous improvement.
  • Experience creating and implementing PFMEA improvements and control plans.
  • Experience measuring and tracking production performance, including OEE, FPY, escape rate, and OTD.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to develop clear SOPs, work instructions, and reports.
  • Experience with ERP and quality management software.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.

  • Lead Lean training and continuous-improvement education across the assembly team.
  • Improve first-pass yield and in-line inspection escape rate toward world-class targets.
  • Own, build, and continuously improve in-line inspection stations, including probing systems, continuity checks, and final inspection.
  • Create and implement PFMEA improvements and assembly-process control plans.
  • Meet on-time delivery targets based on internal schedule dates and update lead times as needed.
  • Drive line OEE toward a world-class threshold.
  • Measure and track OEE, FPY, escape rate, and OTD using dashboards in Power BI and Epicor.
  • Capture shop-floor learnings and provide structured process improvements and product feedback to engineering.
