About The Position

Manufacturing Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Mid-Level or Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) at Kennedy Space Center, FL. ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, working as a Manufacturing Engineer, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing and/or production environment
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MESci), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), Unigraphics (UG) and Visulization Mockup
  • Experience with 3D model based instructions (MBIs)
  • Understanding of Industrial Engineering tools and how they integrate into shop systems
  • Ability to successfully work well and communicate with others in a cross functional team

Responsibilities

  • Develop, identify, and implement conceptual designs while maintaining the program architecture for build.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
  • Lead and implement manufacturing plans.
  • Conduct producibility and variation analyses to ensure manufacturing process capability aligns with requirements.
  • Analyze design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.
  • Develop and implement production and tooling methodologies.
  • Assist in providing producibility information for project plans and document best practices.
  • Resolve technical problems that significantly impact performance, cost, or schedule.
  • Coordinate and implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies, and concepts.
  • Validate and ensure production readiness of solutions to complex problems.
  • Implement lean principles and technologies
  • Develops and maintains complex business system factory definition to be used for manufacturing planning.
  • Partnering with other organizations in the evaluation and refinement of program goals, business objectives, decision support needs, and both the data and performance requirements to meet program/project level objectives.
