About The Position

The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will work with our project teams, across a range of projects, to help move our new products from the concept stage through final transfer to our contract manufacturer. This work includes: Collaborating with other engineering groups to identify and resolve design issues as early as possible in the new product development cycle. Working with the NPI team to enable a timely transfer of our new products to volume manufacturing. Building various electro-mechanical assemblies to develop the assembly process flow and identify any assembly risks that may lead to product failures. Creating detailed assembly process documents for our pilot production teams and contract manufacturers to use during product builds. Identifying the need, then designing and qualifying assembly tools and fixtures used in the assembly of our products. Assisting in the evaluation of product assembly issues and collaborating with other groups to identify the cause and implement corrective actions. Working with our suppliers to design and validate the packaging solutions used with our new products. Training various personnel on the proper methods to assemble our products. Assisting in the completion of other department projects as required.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of related work experience in a manufacturing engineering position.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an eagerness to comprehend how things go together and a willingness to offer ideas for improving the overall product design.
  • Knowledge of developing assembly processes flows from solid models, bills of material and other available design information.
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining detailed product assembly instructions.
  • Experience developing mechanical tools and fixtures used in the assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
  • Ability to design and document parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite of tools, including: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site, in our Deer Park, IL facility.
  • Ability to travel domestically/internationally as needed (0-10%).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM is a plus.
