About The Position

At BAE Systems, we deliver a full range of products and services for air, land, and naval forces as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions, and customer support services. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer with experience supporting circuit card assemblies. In this position, the candidate would lead the design, support, and continuous improvement of production processes. The candidate must demonstrate strong technical aptitude, communication skills, and be able to work cross-functionally within the operations organization and with other discipline/functions. This position is first shift on a 9/80 work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Technical discipline i.e. mechanical/electrical engineering or engineering technology)
  • 7+ years in Manufacturing engineering
  • Can work independently with minimal guidance
  • Capable of working with current computer applications, CAD programs, and model manipulation
  • Ability to solve technical problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge and manufacturing processes
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Experience interfacing with customer (both internal and external)
  • Experience with assembly line operations and circuit card assembly operations
  • Hands-on floor support experience, working with shop employees
  • Experience in root cause/corrective action- preventive action
  • Knowledge of Engineering concepts, practices, drawing standards, procedures, and processes
  • Basic knowledge of inspection processes
  • Practice of lean / 6 sigma concepts as applied to manufacturing
  • Knowledge of machining and painting operations

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain production processes, work instructions, routes, and assembly documentation.
  • Design, standardize, and maintain bench layouts.
  • Lead cost, yield, and productivity improvement efforts using data analysis and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Review and maintain HPU and Lead Time.
  • Identify and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) that impact manufacturing processes.
  • Support factory safety, ergonomics, 7S, and environmental compliance through assessments and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) and process qualification plans (PQP).
  • Train manufacturing staff and provide daily technical support on process execution and issue resolution.
  • Create drawings for, and procure, fixtures, tools, and manufacturing aids.
  • Perform validations on tools and equipment, and manage wearables, fixtures, and tooling inventory.
  • Drive equipment moves and factory transitions, coordinating MEP needs and production readiness.
  • Drive root cause investigations and lead implementation of corrective and preventive actions (RCCA).
  • Oversee capital projects and manage procurement activities for manufacturing resources.
  • Lead / support Transition to Production (site relocations and NPI) efforts in the factory.
  • Represent the manufacturing team in audits, CAB meetings, and customer engagements.
