About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This role is onsite at our Roanoke, VA facility. Relocation is not provided. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Eaton’s Roanoke, VA facility is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support Assembly Operations. This role is responsible for designing, improving, and sustaining mechanical systems, tools, and processes used in the manufacturing and assembly of high-quality products. You will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams to drive product performance, manufacturability, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Roanoke, VA to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-volume assembly or electromechanical manufacturing
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability/Assembly) principles
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience supporting SMT, automated assembly, or testing systems
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Project management experience, including leading cross-functional initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and manufacturability
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including prototype builds, process development, and production readiness
  • Evaluate existing products and processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and quality improvements
  • Develop and implement tooling, fixturing, and assembly methods to support safe and efficient production
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in production and implement robust corrective actions
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to improve yield, reduce scrap, and optimize throughput
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Support testing and validation of products to ensure compliance with performance and reliability requirements
  • Work with suppliers to specify components, resolve technical issues, and improve part quality
  • Lead or support continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) initiatives across assembly operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and engineering best practices
