About The Position

PROENERGY is an engineering, R&D, and manufacturing powerhouse that addresses every need for fast-start power generation. The company delivers innovative aeroderivative solutions from worldwide centers for aeroderivative excellence. This role is established to support significant manufacturing growth and the introduction of new equipment and capabilities, including robotic welding systems, beam line equipment, laser cutting tables, CNC breaking equipment, and related manufacturing software systems. The Manufacturing Engineer will help convert engineering designs into reliable, repeatable, and efficient shop processes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Typically 2+ years of manufacturing engineering, fabrication engineering, industrial equipment, or production support experience in a metal fabrication, structural fabrication, heavy industrial, power generation, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with fabrication and assembly teams to resolve practical production issues.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent design software.
  • Experience running structural analysis by hand or and computer-based FEA for verifications and use when peer reviews and design reviews are done.
  • Strong ability to interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, GD&T or dimensional tolerances, material specifications, bolting requirements, and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to evaluate deviations, NCRs, rework options, weld sizing questions, bolt-hole deviations, fit-up issues, and dimensional discrepancies using sound engineering judgment.
  • Working knowledge of welding, cutting, drilling, fit-up, structural fabrication, mechanical assembly, inspection requirements, and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Strong analytical and root cause problem-solving skills with the ability to balance code compliance, quality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain engineering decisions to shop personnel, designers, quality, and management.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring tools and theory of measuring. Tape measure, Calipers, Micrometers, Levels. etc.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering, fabrication engineering, industrial equipment, or production support experience in a metal fabrication, structural fabrication, heavy industrial, power generation, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Discipline.
  • Experience supporting robotic welding systems, beam line equipment, laser cutting tables, plasma cutting, CNC machining, CNC drilling, or automated fabrication equipment.
  • Experience with Lantek or equivalent CAD/CAM nesting/programming software, MES, ERP, PLM, or other manufacturing execution and production tracking systems.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for newly in-sourced products or transferring work from suppliers into internal production.
  • Hands-on experience with fixture design, shop tooling, weld fixtures, assembly aids, inspection gauges, lifting aids, or material handling tools.
  • Experience with FARO Laser Tracker (or similar device) and LiDAR equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, ISO, or other fabrication, structural, mechanical, and manufacturing standards.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Lean/Six Sigma certification, or other relevant technical certification is a plus.
  • Experience in power generation, gas turbine packaging, skid-mounted equipment, structural frames, piping supports, enclosures, or manufacturing heavy industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support development, installation, commissioning, qualification, and production release of new fabrication equipment, including robotic welding cells, beam lines, laser cutting tables, and other shop equipment.
  • Work with suppliers, programmers, maintenance, operations, safety, quality, and engineering to define requirements, validate machine capabilities, and resolve production issues.
  • Translate product requirements, drawings, weld details, tolerances, and assembly needs into practical manufacturing processes, machine setup requirements, standard work, inspection points, and readiness checklists.
  • Partner with programmers to support CNC, robotic welding, beam line, laser table, nesting, MES, Lantek or equivalent CAD/CAM software, ERP/PLM systems, and shop-floor production tracking tools.
  • Support the transfer of products and fabrication work from external suppliers into PROENERGY’s internal manufacturing operations.
  • Serve as a primary technical support resource for fabrication and assembly personnel to resolve production questions in a timely and practical manner.
  • Evaluate and disposition shop deviation requests, Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), and rework/repair proposals in coordination with design engineering, quality, and production, including engineering checks and calculations for weld sizing, tolerance evaluation, dimensional discrepancies, structural adequacy, and overall fabrication acceptability.
  • Support assembly operations by developing or improving work instructions, inspection checkpoints, alignment requirements, and handling methods.
  • Work with fabrication, assembly, designers, and quality to develop and implement custom shop tooling, fixtures, gauges, templates, lifting aids, and assembly aids that improve safety, quality, repeatability, ergonomics, cycle time, and production flow.
  • Work closely with design engineers and designers to improve drawings, reduce ambiguity, and ensure new designs are practical for fabrication and assembly.
  • Collaborate with quality to define inspection requirements, acceptance criteria, hold points, dimensional checks, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to resolve technical issues related to fabricated components, tooling, purchased parts, material availability, and vendor capabilities.
  • Participate in design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, FMEA, root cause analysis, and lessons-learned activities.
