Manufacturing Engineer
About The Position
The Manufacturing Engineer works cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Design teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives, optimize production workflows, and drive manufacturing excellence. The role supports the delivery of high-quality heating products while maintaining a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. The position designs, develops, validates, and improves manufacturing processes. It applies Design for Manufacturability and Assembly principles, including creating or modifying SolidWorks models, releasing DXF and STEP files for production, updating control documents, and performing first article evaluations. The engineer also develops work instructions and process documentation, applies statistical analysis, identifies root causes of product and process variance, and uses Lean Manufacturing methods to reduce waste and build quality into processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering from a four-year college or university.
- At least 3 years of progressive experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar role.
- Drafting experience with SolidWorks and use of a vault storage system.
- Knowledge and experience in manufacturing sheet metal parts and Lean Manufacturing methodology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability and Assembly principles, including creating or modifying SolidWorks models.
- Create and release DXF and STEP files for production, update control documents, and perform first article evaluations.
- Develop standard work instructions, workmanship standards, process documents, and visual manufacturing procedures to meet quality objectives.
- Perform design of experiments (DOE) and apply statistical analysis to improve products and processes.
- Determine root causes of product and process variances and develop changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods to reduce them.
- Use Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology to reduce waste and streamline and improve manufacturing processes.
- Ensure quality is built into manufacturing processes.
- Perform other job duties as required.
