About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer serves as the critical link between engineering design and production execution, ensuring the efficient and successful assembly of custom automated equipment. This role provides hands-on technical support to assembly operations, quickly resolving mechanical and integration challenges to maintain build schedule and quality expectations. Acting as the primary liaison between the production floor and mechanical engineering, the Manufacturing Engineer translates real-time build issues into clear, actionable feedback while facilitating timely engineering responses. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating and driving resolution of build-related issues, including nonconformances, design conflicts, and incomplete documentation, ensuring minimal disruption to production flow. The Manufacturing Engineer brings a manufacturing-focused perspective to design by communicating lessons learned, tooling considerations, and practical assembly constraints to improve future machine designs. When production demands allow, the Manufacturing Engineer is also expected to actively participate in the hands-on assembly of equipment. This direct involvement strengthens their understanding of real-world build challenges, reinforces credibility with assembly teams, and enables faster, more practical problem-solving. By staying closely connected to the build process, the role is better positioned to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce rework, and improve overall machine quality.

Requirements

  • Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering roles preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, data analysis programs, and related software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Elevated level of technical expertise.
  • Strong analytical thinker.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, hands-on support to assembly teams during custom machine builds, helping resolve mechanical fit, alignment, and integration issues in real time to keep production moving.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assembly and manufacturing when design questions arise, translating floor concerns into clear feedback for engineering and ensuring timely responses that support build progress.
  • Identify, document, and coordinate resolution of nonconformances, missing information, or design conflicts impacting assembly, ensuring issues are prioritized and resolved without disrupting production schedules.
  • Advocate for assembly and manufacturing needs by communicating practical build challenges, tooling constraints, and process inefficiencies to engineering to improve future custom machine designs.
  • Actively participate in the mechanical assembly of equipment when capacity allows, supporting production throughput while gaining first-hand insight into build challenges. This involvement strengthens collaboration with assembly teams, improves practical problem-solving, and enhances the quality and manufacturability of future designs.
  • Participate in launch meetings between engineering and assembly
  • Participate in the daily RAIL meeting
  • Assist in resolution of materials issues related to the project
