Plans, directs, coordinates, and establishes manufacturing processes in a manufacturing plant. This role involves analyzing workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, designing equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency, and conferring with design staff on product design and tooling for efficient production methods. The Manufacturing Engineer determines product specifications for equipment, materials, tooling, or parts purchase, contacts suppliers for production equipment, and performs acceptance evaluations. They are responsible for the implementation of equipment from delivery to handoff to production, including documentation, preventive maintenance plans, and training. The role also involves estimating production times, staffing requirements, and costs, applying knowledge of Elastomeric materials to develop processing parameters, and providing process parameter documentation to production. Collaboration with management, design, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and production schedules is key. The position supports day-to-day production, involves team meetings for improvement identification, and works on new programs (APQP tasks). Responsibilities include creating procedures, PFMEA's, and workflows to meet TS 16949 requirements, utilizing statistical methods and SPC charts, estimating future manufacturing requirements, and corresponding with customers. The role leads projects for existing production and new programs using APQP and Lean principles to meet timing, budget, and performance goals.
