About The Position

The Career Level Manufacturing Engineer will be skilled in manufacturing equipment, tooling, process improvements, and overall manufacturing process support. This role operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where innovation, creativity, and initiative are applied to support current operations. The position will focus on high-volume machining and grinding processes and is a C-Shift assignment. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits. This role is categorized as onsite, meaning the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint Stamping, MI on a full-time basis.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering support role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using computer-based office and engineering software, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Maximo MAS-9.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work C-shift, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering support role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining processes, including ID grinding, OD grinding, drilling, milling, and turning.
  • Knowledge of high-volume fabrication manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with CAD Software.
  • Experience with statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing operations through a variety of technical and cross-functional activities.
  • Act as Salaried Maximo Local Business Administrator.
  • Coach the hourly Maximo Local Business Administrator.
  • Champion Workplace Safety System Element 4.6.
  • Champion GMS CI 12-16.
  • Help cover for maintenance and/or production group leaders.
  • Create plant/facility layouts and blank to pallet layouts using 2D AutoCAD.
  • Ensure manufacturing technical documentation remains accurate and up to date.
  • Provide technical direction to internal teams and oversight of external vendors to ensure processes, equipment, and solutions meet quality, efficiency, and production requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive problem-solving efforts, including improving equipment efficiency, resolving downtime events, and addressing customer quality concerns.
  • Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing operations and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in identifying and resolving safety and ergonomics issues.
  • Facilitate or deliver training for team members and maintenance personnel, including developing technical training manuals and work instructions as needed.
  • Support project planning and coordination to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
