About The Position

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will plan, manage, coordinate, and perform optimization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and layouts/expansions to continually enhance and automate areas within Brock Grain Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred; would consider a combination of coursework and experience.
  • 5+ years of implementing engineering and manufacturing projects/processes.
  • Strong detail orientation with excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizing skills are required to work effectively in managing various projects.
  • Must be able to take initiative, be forward-thinking, and make solid decisions focused on the goals of the organization.
  • Excellent math and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas.
  • A solid foundational understanding of ISO/Quality Systems, Safety, Lean Thinking and 5S is also required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience required.
  • Excellent business writing and communication skills are required to plan, partner, and train with others both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Strong collaboration/influencing skills are needed to effectively partner with others listen to ideas and implement the best enhancements.
  • Ability to be positive, conceptualize and move forward with projects that are viable and cost effective is also important in this role.
  • Excellent versatility is also key to lead and perform portions of the projects.
  • The right person will be able to work well with a diverse group and the ability to easily get along with others is a huge plus for this role.
  • Ability to sit at desk for 6+ hours per day
  • Ability to use hands and fingers and to reach for and handle objects to perform tasks frequently
  • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5+ hours per day
  • Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work
  • Ability to talk and communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
  • Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly throughout the day
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, and carry items frequently
  • Lifting up to 20 lbs. sporadically

Nice To Haves

  • A working knowledge of ERP Systems and familiarity with 5S and Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) would also be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, coordinate, and perform optimization of the manufacturing processes as it relates to machinery and tooling to continually enhance output of the areas while staying within the budget and timelines.
  • Develops process instructions for the cell groups, with the Engineering team, ensuring they meet equipment and tooling standards.
  • Provides second tier training for employees on new work instructions in a way that is easy to understand and follows the processes.
  • Troubleshoots, discerns, and implements the best solution to equipment/tooling obstacles with Maintenance and Product Managers that will maximize output, while meeting budget and downtime constraints.
  • Reviews and evaluates how the machines operate along with the plant layout, and works with the Maintenance, Tool/Die and Engineering departments to optimize the areas.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams and other team members to maximize continuous improvement projects and new product development processes that meet cost and delivery times.
  • Analyzes, researches and collaborates with others (internal and external) within the area to facilitate the CER for the purchase of capital equipment ensuring area goals are met.
  • Works with Engineering and vendors to ensure optimal purchase, use, and creation of machinery and tooling.
  • Researches items that will be purchased to ensure the best capabilities and value, as it relates to new parts, equipment, tooling, or outsourced work.
