About The Position

A technical, hands-on engineering role focused on equipment design, process development, and execution of capital projects. The role supports new product development through trials, layouts, and prototyping, while leading select capital projects and optimizing manufacturing processes based on equipment capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred; Industrial/Chemical acceptable)
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, project, or process engineering
  • Hands-on experience or exposure to equipment, layouts, and technical drawings
  • Basic AutoCAD (2D) proficiency; exposure to 3D tools is an asset; Microsoft Suite, Microsoft project
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food, bakery, pharma or CPG manufacturing
  • Exposure to capital equipment projects and commissioning (FAT/SAT, PSR, SOPs)
  • Experience supporting product development or plant trials
  • Familiarity with basic prototyping / 3D printing
  • Understanding of costing, capacity, and process flow analysis

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute capital and improvement projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Develop project scope, budgets, layouts, and timelines; coordinate vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities (FAT/SAT, PSR).
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings to support design and implementation.
  • Support product development trials in collaboration with R&D and Operations to enable successful launches.
  • Analyze product requirements and align with equipment capabilities to define efficient and scalable processes.
  • Identify constraints, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities; implement practical solutions.
  • Support product costing through understanding of process flow, labor, and equipment utilization.
  • Develop equipment layouts and line designs using AutoCAD.
  • Create and modify technical drawings to support trials, installations, and process improvements.
  • Support prototyping and development activities, including basic 3D modeling/printing where applicable.
  • Translate product and business requirements into practical, manufacturable engineering solutions.
  • Support troubleshooting of equipment and process issues during trials and production.
  • Drive targeted improvements in efficiency, yield, and reliability using practical engineering solutions.
  • Develop SOPs, work instructions, and maintain training documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and safety standards.
