About The Position

At Great Dane, the Manufacturing Engineer is directly responsible for the development and implementation of capital projects and manufacturing processes, working closely with Plant and Branch Operations to anticipate and resolve issues. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 1-5 years of engineering experience working in a manufacturing organization (internships will be considered work experience)
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint/Word), 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, etc.), and AutoCAD software
  • Controls experience (Allen-Bradley PLC, Automation, etc.)
  • Industrial engineering skills such as work measurement, labor reporting, and plant layout
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
  • Understanding of building and maintenance contracts including liability issues
  • Asset justification
  • Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and codes.
  • Occasional travel – <15%

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates maintenance and repair services for plan locations.
  • Follows manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures, requesting special services as needed.
  • Conducts plant visits to assist with project planning, process improvement and to maintain company assets.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information to customers.
  • Responsible for capital expenditure program (budgeting, project planning and implementation).
  • Develops cost reduction, quality and safety enhancement projects/opportunities.
  • Performs payback analysis, obtains quotes and oversees project installation.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency thru analysis and workflow planning.
  • Develops manufacturing processes.
  • Confers with equipment vendors on product design and capabilities.
  • Develops corporate engineering strategies.
  • Researches new equipment and processes for future implementation.
  • Develops new tooling.
  • Coordinates engineering changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
