Are you ready to move the world forward? Apply now. Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Manufacturing Engineer position. The Manufacturing Engineer will perform critical functions in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The critical functions include, but are not limited to, cost reductions, process analysis, cell work design, equipment research and acquisition, fixturing design, safety/ergonomics enhancement, packaging design, and implementation of ISO 9001 Quality System standards and methods. This position works under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to consistently handle and follow through with multiple projects and assignments and meet deadlines; maintain a positive attitude when priorities shift, and designs change in a quickly evolving industry.
  • Must possess strong technical communication skills, organization skills, ability to prioritize, and be detail-oriented.
  • Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Innovative and creative within a professional environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and the environment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by company policy.
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Welding, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from change and improvements.
  • Perform hands-on tasks in manufacturing departments to develop an understanding of processes and procedures.
  • Lead and promote continuous improvement techniques, including Kaizen events, 5S, and Root Cause Corrective Action.
  • Develop, apply, and own lean manufacturing principles and single-piece flow in a flexible manufacturing environment to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Create processes, procedures, and work instructions to help manufacturing depts. meet quality, budgetary, and performance goals.
  • Lead equipment recommendation, acquisition, and implementation.
  • Read, comprehend, review, and utilize 2D and 3D blueprints and models.
  • Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and equipment using SolidWorks and shop tools.
  • Lead custom packaging design efforts for new products.
  • Participate in product development reviews to improve product manufacturability and operation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Line Management, Project Management, and Quality.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of safety-related projects and procedures.
