Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field OR equivalent experience in a manufacturing‑focused engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering role within an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process development, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, and change management in a production environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions and improvements
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams
  • Self‑directed, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP or manufacturing systems experience a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in iron foundry operations, including melting, molding, core making, pouring, shakeout, cleaning, and finishing processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing data collection systems and production dashboards
  • Experience working with process control data
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), control charts, and process capability metrics
  • Ability to analyze and visualize data using tools such as Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), Power BI, or similar platforms
  • Experience collaborating with controls or automation engineers on equipment upgrades or process improvements
  • Familiarity with industrial controls concepts (sensors, PLC‑driven equipment, HMI data) at a user or process‑owner level
  • Interest in digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, or smart factory initiatives
  • Experience turning manufacturing data into actionable improvement projects rather than reporting only

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure safe, capable, and efficient production that meets quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard work, process flow diagrams, work instructions, and manufacturing specifications
  • Support new product introductions (NPI), including process development, risk assessment, production trials, and launch readiness
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools to support cost reduction initiatives to reduce waste, improve flow, and increase productivity initiatives through process optimization, labor balancing, and material utilization improvements
  • Partner with other departments to analyze process performance using data to address nonconformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions
  • Support capital equipment, tooling, and automation projects, including justification, implementation, and validation
  • Ensure processes comply with EHS requirements, ergonomic standards, and company safety initiatives
  • Provide technical support to production teams and help train operators on new or improved processes
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering to evaluate and improve plant layouts for manufacturability, process robustness, efficiency, workflow, and future growth
