The Role: The Engineering Group – Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes and automation in an assigned area. This role combines hands‑on process engineering with controls and automation expertise to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost, while providing technical guidance to a small group of employees and regularly collaborating with partners outside the work group. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities): Analyze and implement product and machinery designs to determine the most effective manufacturing and automation methods. Propose, evaluate, and refine equipment and process solutions for the assigned area. Direct the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes to support safety, quality, and productivity goals. Maintain regular contact with cross‑functional and external partners to align on plans, changes, and issue resolution. Provide technical direction and support to a small group of technical employees. Evaluate and monitor process and equipment expenditures, helping ensure sound investments and cost control. Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications): 3+ years of industry experience as a manufacturing engineer or in automation engineering. Strong technical knowledge in process engineering disciplines (e.g., process design, troubleshooting, optimization). Proven experience commissioning, programming, and maintaining industrial robots (e.g., material handling, welding, or assembly applications) Must be able to work on a rotating/flexible shift (1st, 2nd or 3rd), as well as overtime and weekends, as needed. What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): Experience with GM Global Common Controls Architecture. Machine vision system experience (e.g., setup, programming, troubleshooting). Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent robotics experience.
